OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

First Church exists to glorify God by leading people to know, worship and SERVE Jesus Christ.  We believe we walk closest with Jesus when we look to serve and love others intentionally, just as He did.  Our hope for you is that you will realize your God-given spiritual gifts and live out your life purpose.

While it takes everyone using their gifts at First Church, it's not just about volunteering on the weekend!  We believe every person has a purpose and if you're following Christ, you're on a mission, and there are lots of places in the community to serve.

Whether you've served in the church or community for years or are just getting started, we hope you are serving where you are passionate and gifted.  Here's a snapshot of places where First Church partners with the community and where you can serve.   Please contact Jenny for more Serving Opportunities!

Winter Tent Day

Winter Sessions begin Saturday November 11th. Tent Day is a weekly party with a purpose. A light breakfast is served and relationships are built with children and adults at two different local communities. This has proven to be a fun way for families to engage their children in serving, and individuals and Life Groups to meet new friends and put faith into action. We are currently building volunteer teams willing to serve once a month. Other volunteer opportunities that support this ministry are donation acquisition, prayer and mentoring.  For more information or to join us as we distribute fun and friendship, please contact Jenny.

WHIZ KIDS

Tutoring has the power to boost at-risk children’s academic scores, create strong readers and improve confidence. Our volunteers become so much more than tutors. They become mentors, friends and positive role models that change the lives of children beyond the classroom. You can help provide life-changing tutoring and mentoring for an at-risk child.

In partnership with Burlington Elementary, we tutor 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders on Mondays during the school year. It's a weekly commitment, most Mondays that school is in session. Students do activities at First Church afterschool until tutors arrive. The tutor commitment is from 4:45-6:15pm. The background check and all training is provided.

For more information about Whiz Kids, please contact Joan or

Linda at 859-609-2345.
