Women's Ministry

The Women's Ministry at First Church exists to encourage women to know & love God and

to equip them for ministry to others.  This mission is accomplished through Women's Bible Studies,

A Night to Breathe, Evening of Praise and other opportunities throughout the year that bring women together in the

name of Christ to grow, serve, and learn together.

women's ministry service project

The New or Gently Used Children's Books will help children in 2nd-8th grade on the Island of Java in Indonesia to learn English. Women's Ministry Thursday PM Small Group Leader, Peggy Kennedy has a daughter, Dakota Kennedy who is in the Peace Corps in Indonesia. Dakota teaches English in a rural, but heavily populated village and is hoping to create an "English Room". They have few resources, mostly textbooks, that don't match the age and language level of the students. Dakota will be home a couple of times this fall and we're planning to have books collected to give her while she's here so she can transport them back to Indonesia with her. Books can be dropped off during your weekly Bible Study time. If you're unable to drop them off during the study you may drop them off at the Burlington Campus Front Office: M-Th 9am-5pm, F 9am-12pm. Please let them know it's for the Women's Ministry Service Project.

The Salads and Desserts will provide food for the participants of Bibleland which is a multi-sensory drama ministry for individuals with special needs ages 10 and up. The event is Friday, August 19 at First Church. The special needs children and adults will be here practicing for their drama on Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18. Each night we need enough desserts and salads (of any kind) to feed 100 people. These items need to be dropped off on either October 17 or October 18 based on the date you choose when registering. Please label the item "Bibleland" and drop it off at the Burlington Campus in the kitchen. You may leave them on the Kitchen Counter or in the Refrigerator if refrigeration is necessary.

"Faithful Abundant True" by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer & Beth Moore

God is faithful. His provision is abundant. His promises are true. These are the themes of the FC Women’s Ministry Winter 2019 Bible study. Join us as we study these topics with two weeks each of Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer, and Beth Moore followed by a panel discussion with all three teachers. This 7 week study was recorded live at a conference and each teacher provides two weeks of study in a brief format that will take most women 15 to 30 minutes daily.

• Kay Arthur teaches from basically, the entire book of Hebrews! Hebrews is both an example of God's faithfulness and a challenge to believers to be faithful in difficult times.

• Priscilla Shirer teaches from Ephesians 3:20-21 on God's abundance. A fundamental basis for every believer is the absolute reality that God can do whatever He chooses to do. God's ability empowers our faithfulness.

• Beth Moore teaches on the topic of discernment. In these difficult days it is absolutely essential that we learn to trust the Holy Spirit to enable us to determine what is true and what is false.
