  • GO pantry "go box" collection - MARCH 11-25

This Generosity Can initiative will benefit GO Pantry. GO Pantry provides food to Boone County children who do not have enough to eat at home. During the school year these kids receive breakfast and lunch during the school day. When school is not in session, many of them do not eat.  GO BOXES are designed to meet this need. The GO BOXES program sends kids home on longer breaks with a week's worth of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and healthy drinks.  GO Pantry works with school Family Resource Coordinators ("FRC") to identify kids with the most severe food needs.

First Church has been asked to collect enough food for 350 GO BOXES to provide easy to use meals for the 350 kids Go Pantry will help at Spring Break. The boxes are delivered the week of March 26 to the school FRC/Counselor who then confidentially distributes them to the kids Friday before Spring Break.

It's not about what you think YOU can do.  The question is what can GOD do through you if you allow him to use YOU and your influence of those around you.  Join with your Life Group, friends, neighbors, or co-workers!  Let's make a statement about our love for kids in our community! Flyers and boxes will be available beginning March 11 after all services. Let's fill them up!!

Get involved by collecting these items, helping us receive and sort the food on March 25, or volunteering with GO Pantry. These donations are accepted at All Campuses and Venues of First Church. At Burlington, drop off will be at the Student Building before all services.  At Union, look for the FC Box Truck before services. For more information about GO Pantry visit http://www.gopantry.org/.

    June 1 - 30

Help us fill 300 boxes of shoes for Honduras this June! First Church is joining one of our Strategic Mission Partners, Master Provisions, to pull this off. We will collect shoes throughout June and then they will be packed and shipped to His Eyes mission in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Let's not fall FLAT or have a FLOP, but FLIP the LID off that box and bless some SOULS with SOLES!! Pick up a box after service on June 3rd or anytime that month at the Welcome Center.

The following are in high demand: Tennis/Gym/Running, Casual, Work boots. Also welcomed are Sandals/Flip Flops or other Flat-soled shoes. There is a special need for children's and men's shoes (up to size 11). Note: There is no demand for women’s High/Spike heels or platform type shoes.

Get involved by collecting your own shoes. Take it another level by sharing the opportunity in your spheres of influence and challenge others to donate some of their own as well! Contact Missions@firstchurch.me for information. Donations of these items are accepted at ALL Campus locations.

  • Mountain mission school | July-august

Mountain Mission School (MMS) has provided refuge and relief for children at risk from poverty, neglect or abuse, since 1921. Here they may find hope and opportunity. This is not an adoptive agency; they serve children whose remaining family wishes to retain family ties or those for whom adoption is not an option for other reasons. We have a long tradition of blessing the children at MMS. The school has told us the biggest need is a correctly fitting uniforms for the students. The dress code for the MMS has become more defined and all students are provided 3 polo type shirts with MMS logo as well as a fleece jacket. The cost for these branded items is $50 per student, however, most cannot afford the fee. Each student also needs khaki pants as part of their uniform. So we ask that you consider helping a student with a new set. There are 3 ways we are asking you to choose from in order to make this partnership with MMS a success:

    1) Fully sponsor a student ($75-$100) by purchasing at least one pair of khaki slacks (approximately $25) for your sponsored student and submitting $50 payable to First Church for their uniform shirts/jacket. You are welcome, but not asked to purchase other additional clothing items or other non-essential personal items for your child (lotion, jewelry, aftershave, etc.).

    2) Partner with a friend to fully sponsor a student ($75-$100) as noted in option 1.

    3) Contribute any amount towards the purchase of uniform clothing.

  • GLobal Missions Weekend | October 13-14

Meet Missionaries that First Church supports

Missionaries from around the world are coming to First Church! You will have the chance to meet many of the missions we support. We invite you to meet them and see a glimpse of what God is doing through Missions at First Church at both Union & Burlington campuses. A portion of our mission partnerships will be at our Union Campus before and after the service. At our Burlington Campus, missionaries or their representatives will have displays set up in the Gymnasium for everyone to visit. This will be open Saturday 4:00-7:00pm & Sunday 9:00am-1:00pm and again from 5:00-8:00pm. You'll meet people from around the corner to around the World. First Church gives 16% of her giving to missions. This gives you an opportunity to see not only all of the places where we have partners across the world, but also an opportunity to get to know them better. Come and see...and may your heart beat for the world!
