Giving a tithe is a powerful expression of faith and a means of deepening our trust in Him.

The idea of giving away something we've worked hard for can be challenging. Yet, scripture instructs us to give 10% of our “first fruits” to the church. This act is an opportunity to demonstrate our devotion to God by prioritizing Him over our personal desires and interests. Tithing reflects our trust in God's provision, affirming that we believe He will meet our needs.

Jesus taught us not only to tithe but to live generously. In Matthew 23:23, He says, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill, and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.”

Tithing is also one of the few areas where God invites us to “test” Him. As Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
